ScratchThat is QUT’s resident student-led publication for emerging creatives. We showcase original works of writing, visual art, and music of all forms and genres. For many of our contributors, we are their first publication in their portfolio. So, we strive to provide a platform for young Australians to publish and promote their work. Our mission is to give space to underrepresented voices and brand-new talent, celebrating the successes of those within our cultural scene of Meanjin (Brisbane).
Since the establishment of ScratchThat in 2019, our team has grown, as well as the scope of our endeavours. We self-produce ScratchThat online quarterly, and publish fresh content from in-house writers between issues. We produce our own regular newsletter Spilled Ink throughout the semester, our audio drama podcast Blatherskite is featured on Spotify and iTunes, and as of 2022, we have welcomed submissions of music and freelancers.
ScratchThat Magazine operates on Turrbal and Yuggera country. We pay our respects to the traditional custodians and recognise Elders past, present and emerging. These lands have always been places of teaching, learning and storytelling.
