Jak Kirwin

burning out. the human way
singe off all my boring parts
wax-like words, with truth like clay,
shine like soup
and
fade to grey
boy meets girl like
pen meets paper
nothing much seems to last
crumple it up and start all over
don’t let that little pen
speak so fast
wake up dizzy hearing rain
pat the pillow, why’s she dry?
the roof above me seems a tyrant
i light my wick, i burn, i sigh
i drip hot wax and leave no stain
i’m blank.
