Self Control

Darcie Medlyn

Self Control

This piece features an androgynous figure with twisted limbs, restraining itself and conforming it’s body to the bounds of its encompassing frame. The figure is intended as the artists visual, physical embodiment of struggles with self control. The painting invites further complexity through holes drilled in the board, allowing artificial light to shine through, like stars in a night sky.
