Tiffany Jenko
It’s finding the softest of roses and being torn by its thorns.
It’s floating in hypnotic oceans and being consumed by the current.
It’s discovering caves of crystal and having the exit elude you.
It’s the safety they suggest
And the foul that is exposed.
It’s their protective nature concealing a need to control.
It’s the ‘it’ll be alright’ when they’d rather be anywhere else.
It’s your little indulgences escalating into their expectation for more.
It’s their tender touch
And the bruise left behind.
It’s learning to know when it’s time to move on.
It’s learning to pick up the fractured fragments left on the floor.
It’s learning there are others traversing this trail.
It’s learning to recognise
the wolves in the herd.
