midnight melodies

I don’t feel safe here when I turn off the lights the scrape of my pen – engraving poetry onto paper isn’t the only sound in sight.

shadows sit still in the gap between the blinds permanent, ceaseless artificial light sneaking through from the loading dock nearby

I’d rather be blind so I block my ears with plastic, taking the sweet pill of innocence to help me sleep,

and sleep soundly I do, music dances in my dreams, I wake up thinking I’m still at Aberdeen, it’s been two months the past feels like a dream.
